International Women Day-2017 has been observed in Laxmichap union, Nilphamari on March 8, 2017 by “Promote Gender Equality through Local Knowledge & People’s Initative (PGELKPI)” project of USS supported by Diakonia through several events like rally, essay competition, discussion etc. At the beginning, a colorful rally moved from Akalugange Community Dhan Bank field premise leaded by UP Panel chairman and participated by women groups and adolescent leaders along with above 260 female and male at 10 am. With rhythmic music and slogan, the rally moved along the main roads of the Akalugong bazar to Beltoli Bazar ended at the ARC field. After rally, Discussion on International Women Day was started presided over Josna Rani Roy, President, Community Dhan Bank 1 . Md. Saiduzzaman Choudury, Panel chairman, Laxmichap union was present as chief guest and Roksana Begum, Up member, Laxmichap Union parishad, Birendro Nath Roy, Up member & ARC precedent, Laxmichap Union. Bisnupado Roy, Teacher, Laxmichap High school, Radhakantho Roy, Present Dhanbank Association, Laxmichap,. Abdul Kuddus Sarker, Education coordinator, USS, Omor Faruk, Ganogabeshona & Training Coordinator, USS, gave speech in the event as special guest. Chief Guest, special guests and women leaders , adolescent leaders, gave speech and also they gave thanks to USS and Diakonia for arranging International Women Day Observation at union level.
Students of Kokaybarogasa PC high school, Dubasuri girls high school, Laksmichap Dakhil Madrasha and Laksmichap Dimukhi high school participated in essay competition. 100 students participated in the competition. Essay head was `In economic development- Role of women’. 10 students was selected for prize.
