NJK (Women Network) of Nilphamari district has organized a Human Chain protesting rape and any kind of violence against women and children as a part of the “16 Days celebration against Gender-Based Violence 2020” under Promoting Gender Equality through Local Knowledge & People’s Initiative (PGELKPI) project of USS, supported by Diakonia at Chourongir Mor of Nilphamari town on 8 December 2020. This encouragement aligns with the theme of this year "Orange the World: Fund, Respond, Prevent, Collect"
Mr. Shahid Mamud, Chairman of Upazila Parishad, Sadar, Nilphamari and Sarower Manik, ex-principal of Moshiur Rhaman Degree College were present as special guests and also took part in the discussion session. Besides general people of the community, students, teachers, local elites, local government representatives, political leaders, NJK members and journalists were actively present in the event.
In the end, Ms. Forida Khanom, the convenor of the event and member of NJK, presented her closing remarks with the strong hope and conviction of ending all sorts of violence against women in her community.
