Udayankur Seba Sangstha (USS) & News Network, Dhaka, is implementing the project jointly with the collaboration European Union. The Startup workshop was held on "Programming for Supporting Human Rights Defenders Working for Women's and Girl's Rights in Bangladesh" project at the Deputy Commissioner's conference room in Lalmonirhat district on 6th June '2018. Mr. Mohammad Shafiul Arif, Deputy Commissioner, Lalmonirhat was present the program as chief guest; Mr. Md. Rafiqul Islam, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General); Mr. Md. Mosharraf Hossain, Deputy Director, Social welfare Department; Mr. Mohammad Mahfuzar Rahman, District Information Officer; Asma Khatun, Assistant Commissioner, Lalmonirhat; Mr. Shahiduzzaman, Chief Executive News Network, Dhaka were present the program as special guest; Mr. Alauddin Ali, ED of USS presented the welcome speech; News Network Chief Executive Mr Shahiduzzaman presented the program. Mr. Alauddin Ali was as moderator of the program. The speakers said that journalists efficiency will be increase through the project who are involved in ensuring human rights, giving fellowships to women journalists, giving full support to human rights defenders and Human Rights Defenders will be provided overall support under this project. Kaliganj Press Club president Amirul Islam Helal; journalist Azinur Rahman Azim; Patgram Bashundhara Jame Mosque's Khatib Sirajul Islam; journalist Samiul Islam Sani; Hindu Community Leader, Abinash Roy and others participants actively participated in the open discussion session & sharing their opinions in the workshop. Captain (retd) Azizul Haque, hero symbol, guerrilla leader Dr. SM Shafiqul Islam Kanu and Assistant Commissioner Asma Khatun were also present in the workshop. They were wishing to success of the project, present the directional statement. 70 journalists from print, electronic and online media of district; 20 local NGO/CSOs representatives and 20 religious leaders and senior government officials participated as invited guests. Chief Guest Mohammad Shafiul Arif, Deputy Commissioner of Lalmonirhat hopes for the success of the project during his speech.
