The international women day celebrate in Chilahati, Domar Upazila under Nilphamari District this events organized by Udayankur Seba Sangstha (USS) with the assistance of ActionAid Bangladesh. In this year the theme of International women day is ‘‘Planet 50-50 by 2030: Step it up for Gender Equality”. The main events are rally, human chain, essay competition, discussion meeting and prize distribution which is held in USS, project office, Chilahati. More than 250 women are participating in the rally, human chain and discussion meeting and 82 sponsor children participated in the essay competition. The rally starts at 10.00 am and going to round in Chilahati bazar. After completion rally and human chain then started the discussion meeting in Project office. In the discussion meeting Mr. Kaykobad Hossain, project Coordinator addressing his peach & describe the objective of the program to increase accountability to the duty bearer and ensure women rights & gender equality. Mrs. Sefali Khatun, president of Lokokendro forum, Chilahati said that ‘‘The government should take necessity steps to ensure the women rights and their development”, Babli Rani Roy, secretary, Samaj Unnayon Lokokendro, said that ‘‘ we want a environment where all kinds of violence against women will be reduced” and Fatema Begum, secretary, Prottasha Lokokendro and others said that it is the moments in time of consider ensuring the equality and women rights, how many we have achieved? We should ensure accountability and transparency of government and society so we need to make a development plan as per present situation. After completing the discussion meeting the distributing the prize among the winners. It is noted that 15 sponsor child win the essay competition.
