Quarterly Meeting with Child Forum, UP Standing Committee and Elite at Jaldhaka Upazila

USS conducted quarterly meeting with child forum, UP standing committee and elite at Jaldhaka upazila supported by Plan International Bangladesh.

Objective of the event: 

120 SC union network member (representative of union forum) and 30 UP standing committee member & elites will gain knowledge on child rights, negative effect of violence against children, negative effect of child labor and they will take initiative in their union to prevent child violence and to ensure child rights.

What and how it was implemented:

Union Parishad  is the lowest tier of government institution which provides services to citizens at their doorstep. The roles of standing committees in Union Parishad are very important.  For improving the service delivery at grassroots level 06 UP standing Committee (Women & Child welfare) 0f Jaldhaka upazilla has jointly arranged quarterly meeting with child forum and local elite supported by USS and Plan International Bangladesh during these reporting period(01-22 september,2022).

It was implemented from beginning to end:

• last meeting minutes review
• Sharing running achievement
• Details of Last three month situation of women and child welfare
• Next quarter planning
• etc

Output: 

• They have makes a next quarter plan for developing child friendly Union, Support of SC poor girls, reduce child marriage  and Excess of  technical education etc.
•  50 SC union network member (representative of union forum), 10 SCF and 30 UP standing committee member & elites will gain knowledge on child rights, negative effect of violence against children, negative effect of child labor and they will take initiative in their union to prevent child violence and to ensure child rights.
• UP standing committee member have promise for support to Sponsored children and Children and youth are participating in planning, budgeting, and implementation and monitoring of local govt. institutions.

SC/SC family participation: 60 SC/SC Family members have participated in the said meeting. They share union wise child protection situation of last month and next month planning.

Total participation: Total 90 participants were present in the quarterly meeting.

Benefit for SC & SC family: 60 SC and SC family member will gain knowledge on child rights, negative effect of violence against children, negative effect of child labor and they will take initiative in their union to prevent child violence and to ensure child rights.

Gender segregation data: SC (Girls-32, Boys-18) & their Family members (Female-07, Male-03) have participated in the said meeting.
