Dialogue Between Youth Committee and Media Representative

To create a protective and respected environment for the children and adolescents, Udayankur Seba Sangstha (USS) has arranged Dialogue between Youth Committee and Media representative on the issues on stop child Marriage supported by Plan International Bangladesh at Hatibandha upazilla of Lalmonirhat district on 06 June 2022 & Jaldhaka Upazila of  Nilphamari district on 13 June,2022.

Objective of the dialogue:

• Rapport will be build and linkage will be established too among 20 journalist & 60 youth and child & youth welfare to published positive news and mass people awareness about violence reduction.

Background: Udayankur Seba Sangstha was organized a survey for information collection in support of stop child marriage leaded by a group of Youth. The organization have collected data at least 240 girls who has already happened child marriage.  USS was to produce questionnaires for survey conduction, after completing survey a report made for sharing to participants in dialogue program. There were discussed about the cause of child marriage & searching, result review and responsibilities of press to reduce child marriage.

Coverage: Totally 02 events were organized at Jaldhaka Upazilla and Hatibandha upazilla where 24 journalists & 25 youth participated. 

Immediately Outcome/impact:

• Some recommendation and planning has generated to reduce child marriage.
• Journalists were promised that they will publish Child and youth protective news.
• A good relation build up among youth, journalist and USS for information sharing to reduce child marriage.

Asaduzzaman Saju( Journalist of Hatibandha) said” I believe that if girls would be aware, child marriage definitely will be reduce. Taijul Islam (Journalist of Jaldhaka) said that we should also work with parents to reduce child marriage. Finally the dialogue program was ending by president’s speech of the event.
