Celebration of the International Day of the Girl 2022

The International Day of the Girl Child is celebrated each year on 11th October. The main aims of the day are to promote girl’s empowerment and fulfillment of their human rights while also highlighting the challenges that girls all over the world face.

Initiative taken for the day observation:

As part of the National and International initiative union child and youth network has observed the International Day of the Girl 2022 with collaboration of Local government, Girls Club and CBOs following the theme “Equal Power Now” supported by Udayankur Seba Sangstha & Plan International Bangladesh at Dharmapal union of  Jaldhaka upazila, Nilphamari  on 11 October’2022.  The event has completed conducting discussion Session regarding the the day celebration purpose and importance, Bi-Cycle rally with different message carrying  festoons and cultural event like singing and drama demonstrate on importance message of Equal Power for girl .

Discussion Session:

The discussion session held at Dharmapal union, Jaldhaka, Nilphamari about the awareness raising of equal power for girls. Dharmapal Union Parishad member, USS Project coordinator, Youth network member, girl’s club member & youth are participated on the discussion session. All of them were discuss to awareness of equal power. Samoli Ray (Youth club member) has said; there is still discrimination against the girl child in the family, we want to reduce the scenario”.

Cycle rally: The child & Youth network of Dharmapal union organized a bi-cycle rally where near about 70 girls were participated. The rally traveled about 02 kilometers with message containing colorful festoons, banners, meaningful slogans. The girls were very happy, excited and proud to join the bi-cycle rally.

Cultural Event (Singing & drama Show): As a part of celebration of the International Day of the Girl-2022, girls club and child forum have organized a cultural event considering girls equal power at FWC ground, Dharmapal union especially participation of girls child for their voice raising about their rights.

Girls are very proud when they know the massage; International Day of the Girl Child began as part of the international non-governmental organization Plan International’s campaign “Because I am a Girl.”
