Review Meeting of SDG Implementation in Nilphamari

Udayankur Seba sangstha (USS) and Media House Nilphamari jointly organized a Public Hearing based on local level voluntary review (VLR) survey finding through Zoom platform supported by ActionAid Bangladesh on 28 August 2021. Total 62 people participated and among of them 23 female & 39 male. Md Aftab Uddin Sarker, Honorable Member of Parliament, Nilphamari-1 was present as Chief Guest. Md Ajaharul Islam, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Genaral), Nilphamari was attend as special guest. Md Dr. Jahangir Kabir, Civil Surgeon, Nilphamari, Md. Shahid Mahmud, Upazilla Chairman, Sadar, Nlphamari; Jesmin Nahar, Upazilla Nirbahi Officer, Sadar, Nilphamari; Shahina Sabnam, Upazilla Nirbahi Officer, Domar, Nilphamari; Md. Shofiqul Islam, District Education Officer, Nilphamari; Md. Nobez Uddin, District Primary Education Officer, Nilphamari; Md. Shamsyl Haque, Assistant Deputy Director, Department of Youth Development, Nilphamari and Alauddin Ali, Executive Director, Udayankur Seba Sangstha (USS), Nilphamari were present as guest.

The meeting was hosted by Md. Tahmin Haque Boby, District Corresponded, The Daily Jonokontha, Nilphamari.

Objective the event:

  • To mobilize young people and their intergenerational coalitions in localization of SDGs after analyzing the local issues, particularly the issues of young women and men, to identify contextualized development agenda.
  • To facilitate youth led accountability initiative to hold respective government institutions accountable in terms of implementation of SDGs while generating evidences from the grassroots to address at nation level.

In beginning of the meeting Md. Abdulla Al Asad presentation a report of youth led VLR finding. The youth members highlighted some of the problems in the area and the guests discussed them periodically. The chief guest in his speech said that the government is committed in implementing SDG. The government is working to provide 100% employment to the youth. We thank to youths for identify problems at the local level. We will work all together to solve these problems.

Immediate outputs:

  • Young people are sharing local level SDG’s survey finding to MP and local service providers.
  • Local authority received the youth led study finding positively and committed to take necessary improvement.
