Youth Network Formed at Jaldhaka Upazila

Youth are the change maker. They are the bright future of a nation and country. Youth can bring tremendous and positive changes by their power and unity.  The workshop was arranged by USS with the support of Plan International Bangladesh. USS is implementing child rights and protection project with the partnership of Plan International Bangladesh at Jaldhaka upazila. As part of the interventions today dated on 30th November, 2016 a workshop was arranged on building network at upazila level at community learning center, Jaldhaka, Nilphamari. In the workshop 30 clubs/forums/local organization chiefs attended and participated actively by keeping opinions and recommendations how to work more effectively in near future. In the day long workshop there were group discussion, experience sharing, activities of each club/forum and local organizations. The common activities were of the clubs/forums/local organizations arrange sports and cultural functions, stop child marriage and child labor, reduce school dropout rate, awareness raising on water and sanitation and rarely IGA for youth and women empowerment. After sharing experiences and activities there were formed a staring committee consisting five organizations focal person. The positions and organizations are as follows;

The staring committee will run all activities and form a full committee within February, 2016 so that the network may function well and achieve its goal and objectives. In the next meeting there will be ToR with all other clubs/forums/ local organizations so that all may have common understanding regarding child rights and youth development. “We have formed a Kishori club in Kaimari union and working for the development of girls. But this network is the plat form of the local club/forum/organizations and we can develop and skill up to work for the positive change of the society” said Tuli Akter, President of Kaimari Kishori club. Abdul Malek, president of Shotoful Futte daw said that, “there are lots of child labor in our society but we have no evidence or research regarding child labor or child marriage. From this network it will be very easy to keep information for advocacy”. The network was given name “Youth Network, Jaldhaka branch”. The workshop was facilitated by Pobon Malo, PC, USS and Moklesur Rahman Pintoo, PC, Rupantor.
