Gender Training for Boys and Girls Held

To reduce gender based discrimination among boys and girls gender training has been held dated on 4th February, 2015 in the hall room of Mirganj union of Jaldhaka upazila. In the training 30 participants attended among them girls 15 and boys 15 took actively participations in the training. Md. Mominur Rashid, chairman of Mirganj union Parishad inaugurated the day long training. The context of the training are difference between sex and gender, discriminations and the causes, rights , sectors of the gender discrimination, role of civil society, boys and girls to reduce gender discrimination and violence against women. In the training sessions lecture, group work, presentation, memorable event sharing methods were used to make the sessions attractive and participatory. “I could come to know how the girls are discriminated in the family and its members. So we have to stop discrimination in our family first. I will share this with my parents”, Sathi Akter forum member of Mirganj union expressed her feelings at the end of the training. At the same moment president of Mirganj Child forum Al Amin said that, “From now on union child forum will practice gender at their forum as well as in their families”. The training was conducted by Atabuzzaman Milon, Community Awareness Raising Trainer and Monjurul Islam, Technical   Officer, Girl Power Project.
