The District Child Welfare Board has arranged a meeting supported by Plan International Bangladesh and Udayankur Seba Sangstha (USS) at DC conference room of Lalmonirhat district on 22 June’2022. ATM Momin, ADC (General) of Lalmonirhat was present as chairperson in the meeting. The meeting was conducted by Abdul Motin, DD, Department of Social Services and member secretary of district Child Welfare Board. Mst. Dilsad Jahan & Rowjatun Jannat. Assistant Commissioner & executive magistrate also present as a special guest. Jail Super, Civil surgeon representative, District police super representative, DD- Department of Women Affairs, District Education Officer, 05 upazilla Social service officer, Unicef representative, USS representative and Youth representatives were present in the meeting.
ADC-General discussed the issue that the boys who are involved in conflicts of law, we will not financially support them but we will send them to a reformatory place. He also addressed safeguarding for children & counseling with parents. He thanked to USS and Plan International Bangladesh for take initiatives to stop Child Marriage. He has also advised to USS for continued family based counseling to achieve child and youth dreams.
Rahima Akter, Union child and youth network representative of Borokhata union of Hatibandha upazila has discussed present situation of child protection especially child marriage. She said that, we are working for stop child marriage but community people blame us. ADC-Jeneral thanks to Rahima for her initiatives in early age. ADC-Jeneral said to Rahima, if we work to prevent child marriage, people will say something and we will not back down. Finally ADC- General tell to USS and union child & youth network to inform them specially (OC, UNO & DC) regarding child marriage detail information so that we can take initiative to prevent child marriage.
