Rokeya Day-2014 has been observed with many activities in Lakhichap union, Nilphamari on December 9, 2014 by “Promoting Gender Equality through Local Knowledge & People’s initiative” project of USS supported by Diakonia Bangladesh. At the beginning, a colorful rally moved from ARC premise leaded by UP chairman and participated by Gano-gobeshona and adolescent leaders along with above 1500 female and male at 10 am.
After rally, sport program was started. 12 types of sports were held like Chair sitting, Bird flies-Tiger flies, Pond across, Pillow passing, Needle run, Ball passing, Biscuit run, Math run, 100, 200, 300 m. run, Plate run etc. 332 person participated in 32 groups. 3 of them got prize in every group through competition. 332 participated in the sports. Most of them were women. Others were adolescent and male. Sports event was very joyful.
After completion of sports, cultural event was performed by adolescent forum. Then discussion on Rokeya Day was started presided over ARC president Mr. Birendranath Roy. Norunnahar Begum, District officer, Women Affairs was present as chief guest and Md. Aminur Rahaman, Chairman, Lakhichap UP, Mr. Radhakanta Roy, President Community Dhan bank and Alauddin Ali, Executive Director, USS were special guests. After discussion session, all winner of sports received prizes from the hand of chief guest and other guests.
