After five years successful completion of Girl Power Project closing event held at Nilphamari Sadar upazila dated on 14th December, 2015 at upazila auditorium hall room. Md. Sabet Ali, UNO of Nilphamari Upazila was present as a chief guest and Alauddin Ali, executive Director, USS was presided over the program. Among the other Md. Fakrul Hasan, AC land, Arifa Sultana Lovely, vice chairmen, Nilphamari upazila parishad, Topon Kumar Roy, UP chairman, Polashbari union, Md. Rahidul Islam, PC-POVC, Plan International Bangladesh, Nilphamari programme unit were present as special guests in the closing ceremony. Pobon Malo, project coordinator, girl power project presented its target, achievements, progress, learning and some challenges during implementation of the project. After a multimedia presentation an open discussion session was held and the participants actively participated in the discussion session. In the open discussion session president of upazila CSO network Kalidas Roy said that, “I thank USS and Plan International Bangladesh for implemented such nice program for the girls and young women. Through this project we have established a strong network among ourselves and working for the betterment of the girls and young women. Now it is our responsibility to carry the activities that we have learnt from the project”. During sharing feelings Sagorika Roy, member of girl and young women said that, “I have learnt how to control myself in the stress situation. I thank USS for implementing a nice project for us”. In the speeches of chief guest UNO said that, “Girl Power project has contributed a lot to the dwellers of Nilphamari sadar upazila. The project is not going to be finished but it will be alive through our activities. I gave special thanks to USS and requesting for another such projects so the girls and young women may really establish their rights and can contribute for the development of our society and country”. In the closing ceremony 160 participants from upazila government officials,Jounalists, girls and young women members, CSO representatives, CPG members, UP members, local elite’s representatives and NGO representatives were attended in the closing ceremony. Afria Sultana Lovely, vice chairman of upazila parishad said that “I am really pleased to see the success of girl power project. It was a extra ordinary project by USS. I hope USS will try to continue such kinds of project for the empowerment of the next generation girls and young women”.
