At District Level:
International Women’s day, the 8th March 2016 has been observed jointly with the Government, NGOs, local elected bodies, schools, colleges and people from different professions. A colorful rally started from Nilphamari DC office premises and moved along the main road of the town. Md. Jakir Hossain, DC, Nilphamari inaugurated the rally with introductory speech. Later a discussion meeting was held in Nilphamari Shilpokala Academy hall. USS also participated in this event.
At Union Level :
International Women Day-2016 has been observed in Laxmichap union, Nilphamari on March 8, 2016 by “Promoting Gender Equality through Local Knowledge & People’s initiative” project of USS supported by Diakonia Bangladesh. At the beginning, a colorful rally moved from Akalugange Community Dhan Bank field premise leaded by UP chairman and participated by Gano-gobeshona, Dhan Bank members and adolescent leaders along with above 250 female and male at 10 am. With rhythmic music and slogan, the rally moved along the main roads of the Akalugong bazar and ended at the Community Dhan Bank field. After rally, Discussion on International Women Day was started presided over Birendhro Nath Roy, President, ARC. Md. Aminur Rhaman, Union chairman, Laxmichap union was present as chief guest and Rahima Begum, Up member, Laxmichap Union parishad, Kusum Roy, Up member, Laxmichap Union parishad, Roushanul Haque, Up member, Laxmichap Union parishad, Josna Rani Roy, President, Dbanbank, Ruhidus Roy, President, Community Library, Babu Radhakanto Roy, president of Dhan Bank Assassination, Amullo Ratan Roy, Freedom fighters were special guests. Omor Faruk, Ganogabeshona & Training Coordinator, USS, gave welcome speech in the event. Chief Guest, special guests and Ganogabeshona group’s female leaders gave speech and also they gave thanks to USS and Diakonia for arranging International Women Day Observation at union level.
