Promoting Gender Equality through Local Knowledge and Peoples Initiative (PGELKPI) Project of USS arranged Gender Workshop for Teacher supported by Diakona at USS Head Office conference room on 22nd Octobe’2020. Allaudin Ali, Executive Director of USS was delivered welcome speech. Md Safikul Islam, District Education Officer, Nilphamar inaugurated the training. There were participated 17 Head teacher and 3 Assistant Head teacher from different High School from Nilphamari District, and they took actively participations in the Workshop.
The Workshop was facilitated by Shahnaz Begum, Project Coordinator and Salma Akter, GDO of USS. Question and answer, group work, videos, pictorial presentation and memorable event sharing methods were used to make the sessions attractive and participatory in the Workshop. In Workshop discussed topic were sex and gender, socialization, patriarchy, gender discriminations, gender need, gender equality, equity, gender awareness, role of productive, reproductive and social role, position and condition of women in family & society at present, violence, type of violence, causes & effect of violence against women, mainstreaming of gender. Besides discussed regarding outdoor and indoor games of students, Adolescents Health Corner, Library and Gender friendly environment of School planning.
The workshop was very interactive. All participants were committed to established gender equality through playing different productive & reproductive role at their School, family and society.
