Women led emergency response on COVID-19 situation.

Countrywide pandemic COVID-19 is common nature of humanitarian crises when community people is facing the different challenge specially people living in poverty. In this circumstances USS & Action Aid Bangladesh have been to trying to reduce the different types of vulnerability for the people living in poverty. AAB & USS also tried to reduce the poverty line among the targeted right holders. From this part of this effort USS is implementing the various types of activities; one of them is women led emergency response for who are economically and mentally affected by COVID-19.

Objectives of emergency response on COVID-19;

  • To provide cash support to targeted sponsor families to reduce the economical and mental vulnerabilities.
  • To provide awareness message through reflection action circle and social media on good health and hygiene Practices personal and environmental protection.

For meet up the objectives in last 2nd and 3rd July 2020 USS organized the cash distribution process in shimulbari and Borovita,s different communities .Borovita union praised chairman Md. Khaybor Ali Mia others civil society representatives were also presented as guest. Chairman thanks to USS and Action Aid Bangladesh for extending their helping hand for the poor people of shimulbari and Borovita unions and he will provide support to AAB and USS. In shimulbari union 97 and Borovita 121 sponsor families received the cash from USS &AAB. Every families received tk 1500 ( one thousand five hundred) only and total distributed amount of Tk 327000( Three lac twenty seven thousand) only

 After receiving the cash then started some beneficiary expressions their views which are below:

  • I am happy to receive the cash and it will be contributed maintaining the family expenses--- Dipti Rani Ray- Darar par Borovita.
  • I am very happy to get some awareness message from AAB as a pregnant mother. I think that it will be helpful to all pregnant mothers in our communities.----Laili Begum- Shimulbari.
  • My child is Apon (BD# 05200050). He is a person with disability and he is registered children of AAB. I am very happy to receive the cash from AAB..This amount will be spent for the purpose of development for Apon. Rawshonwara begum- Shimul bari union.
  •  I am very happy to play the role as a union convener and play active role to distribution process, it was great opportunity of mine to free and fare beneficiary selection process.---- Shimu Akter  Borovita union.
